Cairo is a loving and affectionate shepherd mix who has made her way back into rescue after being adopted for about three years. She was returned when her owners moved into the city. Cairo is a bright girl who is well trained. She is completely housebroken, and she understands how to sit, down and shake-a-paw. Cairo is a real people-dog. She adores humans, both big and small. Cairo is a loyal, loving and affectionate dog, who adores people of all ages. She loves a good scratch behind the ears, and would sit patiently for hours if someone would just pat her! Cairo is a fairly low-key dog most of the time, but she does enjoy a good run! She has spent the last few years living on an acreage where she was allowed to run free, and is excellent off leash. She can pull on leash when she is excited, but can walk well when she is motivated to do so. Cairo likes to hang out and is happy to "hang out" and follow her people around on the acreage. Cairo was very overweight when she was first returned to rescue, but has trimmed down to a good weight now. She is used to spending a fair bit of time outside but has been allowed inside to sleep. She ignores livestock and would be a suitable dog for a farm. Cairo can be dominant with other dogs and would be best suited to a home without other dogs. While Cairo adores people and is excellent around her food bowl with humans, she is not good with food around other dogs. We are told her former owners had cats out on the farm that she didn't bother with, but we have found Cairo to be a bit over-interested in cats. Cairo could live indoors, but is used to having access to the outside and likes to spend time outdoors. She adores people and would be a great dog for a family that has no other pets. She has lived on a farm before, and would do well on a farm or an acreage. She has a lot of pep, and loves to run and play. (Indoor
Home or Outdoor Home Acceptable!)
