Vespa was rescued from an animal impound along with seven of her siblings and her parents back in the summer of 2008 as a wee pup. She wound up back in rescue when the family with young children found they just didn't have time for her. Vespa has been back in rescue for quite some time now, and she is ready for a family to call her own. Vespa does take a bit of time to get comfortable, but when she does she is very loyal, affectionate and loving. Vespa is very easy to look after. She is a total couch potato in the house - and enjoys snuggling and just hanging out with her people. She values her snuggle time just as much as she values her time out to play! She is a fantastic companion dog who is housebroken, crate trained and has excellent house manners. Vespa loves to chew bones and play with her toys - and she never gets into anything she shouldn't. She travels wonderfully and loves to go for long trips in the car. Vespa knows all kinds of tricks too - and she is always happy to show off how smart she is, and loves to give a "high five!" Vespa is looking for someone with a bit of patience to help her settle in. When she first gets into a new place, she is so very happy to have people of her own - and she does tend to submissive pee with excitement when people come home. This behavior completely stops once she has gotten comfortable, but seems to be something that comes with settling in for Vespa. She does tend to be nervous of things like brooms, shovels, vacuums, hair dryers - she runs and hides when they are out. We are not entirely sure what happened to make her afraid of these things. Once she has had time to bond with someone and when she trusts - Vespa is an incredible dog. She just needs someone with patience and time to help her settle in. This little girl is only medium sized, and we get many comments that she is smaller than she looks in person. It's been a while for Vespa and she needs a permanent home. She has been in rescue for a while, because Vespa needs a home without other animals - and those are surprisingly hard to come by! Vespa would do very well with a single person or a couple that can dedicate time and attention to her through that settling in period. As you can see in her pictures, Vespa is a wonderfully loving, cuddly and affectionate dog once she feels at home. She has been waiting far too long for that special someone to come along. Do you think this beautiful girl might be right for you? (Indoor Home Only!)
